The dates for the 2021 Telluride Film Festival have been announced, with the fall festival in the Rockies to take place from September 2–6. Festival organizers expressed confidence that a fully in-person event could be held by that time. Last year, the 2020 edition of the festival was canceled due to the travel restrictions and public health concerns from the expanding coronavirus pandemic.
Now that 14% of the US population has received at least one dose of the vaccine and case loads nationwide continue to recede, confidence is growing that all parts of the movie business are on a path to re-opening. Telluride is among the most prestigious film festivals in the US, with last year’s scheduled lineup of premieres including leading awards contenders Nomadland and The Father.
