Thanks to MOONFALL, February should enjoy a much better boxoffice lift-off than January.
Lionsgate’s PG-13 sci-fi adventure, opening 2/4, looks like a tracking winner. It’s the best first choice for +25M (9 points over norm), but -25M are next best (6 points over norm). Great MOONFALL (pictured) marketing has us wondering what the government’s hidden for 50 years & why the Moon’s not what we think it is?
Paramount/MTV’s R-rated action-comedy docu JACKASS FOREVER (2/4) is tracking best with -25M (9 points over norm).
Disney/20th’s PG-13 murder mystery DEATH ON THE NILE (2/11), directed by Kenneth Branagh (BELFAST), should play best to adults. MARRY ME (2/11), Universal/Nuyorican’s PG-13 romantic comedy musical starring Jennifer Lopez & Owen Wilson, should be the Valentine’s Day destination for -25F. Unfortunately, MM will stream day & date on Peacock, which is bound to weaken its boxoffice punch.
2/18 will bring a heavyweight action-adventure contender for President’s Day Weekend in Sony/PlayStation’s UNCHARTED. Directed by Ruben Fleischer (VENOM) & starring Tim Holland & Mark Whalberg, it should dominate the chart for February’s second half.
