Tom Holland

Actor / Producer / Director

Birthdate – June 1, 1996 (28 Years Old)

Birthplace – Kingston upon Thames, England, UK

At the top of any list of the new generation’s major movie stars, Tom Holland (birthname: Thomas Stanley Holland) has enjoyed the commercial supremacy of the Marvel Comics Universe as much as any actor in the known universe. Beloved for his ebullient energy and upbeat screen presence, Holland has earned his place as the definitive Peter Parker in a string of phenomenally successful Spider-Man movies, including Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021), which have cumulatively earned an astounding worldwide box office of nearly $4 billion.

This doesn’t even include his Spider-Man performances in an ensemble setting in a string of MCU movies including Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers double-bill of Infinity (2018), and Endgame (2019). Tom Holland has confirmed his winning popularity with his early 2022 release, Uncharted, which nearly matched Spider-Man: No Way Home’s opening pattern of 4275 screens, and as of the start of Spring 2022, it holds the #2 spot in the year’s domestic box office rankings. But behind these impressive numbers, Holland’s screen presence marks the kind of likable, energetic, and even innocent profile that seldom comes along in contemporary Hollywood.

Acutely aware of his position as an MCU superstar as well as the risk of being pigeonholed, Tom Holland has commented that he will not likely be performing in many future Marvel movies as Peter Parker. In this sense, his darker and more dramatic roles in Antonio Campos’s Netflix thriller, The Devil All the Time (2020) and the Russo Brothers’ Cherry (2021), as well as his rollicking action-adventure turn in Uncharted, point to a post-Spider-Man future for Holland, who is certainly one of the few near-certain locks as a durable movie star and not just a current flavor-of-the-month.

His packed role as Fred Astaire in an untitled Sony project underlines another movie star rarity: Holland is one of the few stars of his generation who can sing and dance at the highest level, the twin skills that helped secure his casting as Spider-Man in the first place.

Personal Details

Tom Holland is the son of an entertainer—author and comedian Dominic Holland—and it is his father’s experience and guidance that provided the aspiring actor with the confidence for ambitious career goals that included acting and dancing. Nevertheless, he considered both teaching and carpentry, even after his early success performing the lead in a West End production of Billy Elliot.

Tom Holland is well-respected among his peers as hard-working and dedicated to his fans, but also notorious for giving away spoilers about his movies in interviews. His relationship with Spider-Man: No Way Home co-star and pop star Zendaya went public in late 2021. Holland suffers from sleep disorders that he attributes to a fear of intrusive paparazzi. His height is 5’ 8’’.
