Taprena Michelle Augustine

A native of New Orleans, Taprena, who attended New York’s esteemed American Academy of Dramatic Arts, has performed on Broadway as well as TV & Film. She originated and received critical acclaim for the role of Bessie Smith and the Blues Singer in the Broadway Production of “A Night With Janis Joplin”. She also won the 2011 Broadway World Award for her portrayal of Shug Avery in “The Color Purple”
