Steven C. Miller has risen from the margins of indie horror and exploitation to mainstream genre vehicles as a director, writer, and editor, and set his template early with his debut theatrical debut as director/writer/editor of the reanimated Corpses horror movie, Automaton Transfusion (2006), budgeted at $30,000 and premiering at Screamfest Film Festival. Miller’s next theatrical horror movie as director/editor was Under the Bed (2012), with Jonny Weston and Gattlin Griffith and released by XLrator Media.

Miller was director only on the remake (and the sixth iteration) of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) titled Silent Night (2012), starring Malcolm McDowell, Jaime King, Donal Logue and Ellen Wong, and released by Anchor Bay Films. Miller then began a production relationship with Lionsgate (via their specialty distribution arm Lionsgate Premiere) with the action thriller, Extraction (2015), starring Bruce Willis, Kellan Lutz, Gina Carano, and D.B. Sweeney.

Miller was again director only on the survival thriller, Submerged (2016), with Jonathan Bennett, Talulah Riley, Mario Van Peebles, and Tim Daly, and released to poor reviews by IFC Midnight. Miller returned as director to Lionsgate Premiere for his biggest movie to date and his first crime movie, Marauders (2016), co-starring Christopher Meloni, Bruce Willis, Dave Bautista, and Adrien Grenier.

Miller once again directed Bruce Willis in the action thriller, First Kill (2017), with Hayden Christensen and Gethin Anthony, and released by Lionsgate Premiere, marking Miller’s final movie with the company. Miller then took on the directing assignment of the commercially disappointing sequel to the action hit, Escape Plan (2013), Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018), starring Sylvester Stallone, Dave Bautista, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Titus Welliver, and Jaime King and earning a global gross of $17.6 million for Summit Entertainment, below its $20 million costs.

Miller joined the action movie, Line of Duty (2019), directing Aaron Eckhart, Giancarlo Esposito, Courtney Eaton, and Jessica Lu, which was released by Saban Films. Miller returned as director to the horror genre with Paramount Pictures’ Margaux (2024), with Madison Pettis, Vanessa Morgan, Jedidiah Goodacre, and Richard Harmon, and then the same year,

Miller was the director/producer of the horror movie, Werewolves (2024), starring Frank Grillo, Katrina Law, and Lou Diamond Phillips, and released by Briarcliff Entertainment. Miller shifted to the twin roles of director and editor for the thriller, Under Fire (date to be announced), co-starring Dylan Sprouse, Mason Gooding, and Emilio Rivera, and then Miller was director only on another thriller, Run (date to be announced), starring Olga Kurylenko, Jonathan Rhys Meyer,s and Johnathan Schaech.

Miller continued his run as a director of thriller movies with Grayer (date to be announced), written by David Keith Miller, and then Miller turned as director to the action movie, Nightfall (date to be announced), produced by Culmination Pictures and Practical Pictures.
