A rising talent at DreamWorks Animation, Pierre Perifel is a French-born and trained animation director, and helmer of DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys. Trained in animation in France, Perifel made the jump to Hollywood by fits and starts, after initially turning down a 2005 offer by DreamWorks to join their team. He switched courses two later, joined DreamWorks Animation, and moved with his wife and child to Burbank, California, where the studio’s home base is located.

Pierre Perifel rose through the ranks of DreamWorks Animation, serving as an animator on Kung Fu Panda (2008), Monsters vs. Aliens (2009), The Illusionist (2010), Shrek Forever After (2010), and Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011). He rose to the level of supervising animator on the epic Rise of the Guardians (2012), then head of character animation on short films produced by DreamWorks Animation. 

Before landing his first feature directing assignment on The Bad Guys, Perifel won Best Short for Bilby (2018) at the largest North American shorts film festival, Palm Springs ShortFest.

Personal Details

Pierre Perifel was born in the central France city of Lyon and attended the animation school L’École Émile Cohl before being accepted to the prestigious Gobelins animation school. He currently lives in Burbank, California.
