Michael Matthews

Michael Matthews made his feature directorial debut with Five Fingers For Marseilles, a contemporary Western, set in rural South Africa. The film premiered at the 2017 TIFF, and went on to BFI London Film Festival, Busan Int Film Festival, Fantastic Fest and many more. It won five African Movie Academy Awards, including Best Film, Best Film in an African Language and Best First Feature Film by a Director. Michael’s second feature was Love and Monsters with Paramount Pictures, produces by 21 Laps Ent, which was Oscar Nominated nominated in 2021 for Visual Effects. Matthews’ professional background also includes directing commercials, music videos and short films, including Apocalypse Now Now which won Best Short Film at the South African Film & TV awards 2018.
