Marcelo Alejandro Alonso Claro is a Chilean actor, born in Santiago de Chile. He has a degree in Acting in Departamento de Teatro de la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile. He has two half-brothers.

His TV debut was in 1994 in Champaña; and then, he obtained recurring roles. In 2004, he acted in Los Pincheira; Los Capo; Complices; Corazon de Maria; Viuda Alegre and Los Exitosos Pells. In 2009, he played General Juan de Dios Vergudo in Conde Vrolok. In 2011, he played the villain Esteban Donoso in El Laberinto de Alicia. In 2012, he joined Reserva de Familia, as Pedro Serrano, adopted son of Fernando Ruiz-Tagle (Nelson Villagra), owner of the vineyard, place of the story.

Next year, he acted in Socias, as Federico Ibañez, a married man cheating on his wife, Monserrat Silva (Paola Volpato). In 2014, he joined the TV series Vuelve Temprano, as Francisco Valenzuela. Then, he played Father Raimundo Zisternas in La Poseida (2015), based on the life of Carmen Marin “La Endemoniada de Santiago”, during century XIX, in Santiago de Chile.

He also has acted in Post Mortem (2010), directed by Pablo Larrain; La Mujer de Ivan (2011), by Franco Silva; El Club (2015), and Neruda (2016), starring Gael Garcia Bernal.

Alonso has also performed stage plays such as Casa de Muñecas, by Ibsen; Boca arriba, by Rodrigo Bazaes; Un Roble, by Tim Crouch, among others. He has directed several theatre plays such as Las Brutas, by Juan Radrigan, and Madame de Sade, by Yukio Mishima. He also is professor in different local universities.

In 2000, he had a relationship with the Italian actress Alessandra Guerzoni, until 2004. Currently, he has a relationship with the Chilean actress Amparo Noguera.
