Craig’s acclaimed filmmaking debut—as writer, director, and executive producer—was The Edge of Seventeen (2016), produced by James L. Brooks and starring Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Kyra Sedgwick, and Haley Lu Richardson, proving to be a solid indie hit ($19.4 million gross on a $9 million budget) after its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and along the way winning the Best First Film prize from the New York Film Critics Circle.
Craig’s second feature, again with Brooks as a fellow producer, was her adaptation of Judy Blume’s beloved book, Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret. (2023), starring Rachel McAdams, Abby Ryder Fortson, and Kathy Bates, and released by Lionsgate Films. Craig’s second screenwriting-only credit was Ordinary Angels (2023), co-written with Meg Tilly, with the cast of Hilary Swank, Alan Ritchson, Nancy Travis, and Tamala Jones, under Jon Gunn’s direction. Craig’s third writing-directing-producing feature was her adaptation of Adrienne Brodeur’s memoir, Wild Game (date to be announced).
