Grant Neale
Grant Neale grew up on Lake St.Clair in New Baltimore, Michigan. His love of acting began at the age of 15 at Brown Ledge Camp in Vermont where he worked in the summers as a pot washer or stable boy and found himself in plays most every weekend. Stephen Jobes is his long time colleague and acting coach. He attended Anchor Bay High School (home of the Tars), and Siena Heights College (home of the Saints) where he received an acting scholarship. After college he studied acting with James Price at The Acting Studio, and dance with Lynn Simonson and Laurie De Vito at Dance Space. Mr. Neale has a fascination with movement forms and has over the years studied everything from American Sign Language to Gymnastics. He also has a knack for dialect and language and speaks conversational French as well as some German, Polish, and Swedish. He is honored to have worked with many wonderful actors and directors over the years. His first NYC acting job was 5 short plays from stories by Guy de Maupassant at Play Lab New York. Since then he has performed in more than 200 plays, films, television episodes and operas throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is proud to have been a member of both the acclaimed Jean Cocteau Rep where he acted in 15 classical plays in rotating repertory, and the legendary Ridiculous Theatrical Company for 5 years. Some favorite roles are Leontes in “The Winters Tale” directed by Gia Forakis (Milwaukee Shakespeare), Johnny “Frankie and Johnny In The Clair de Lune” directed by Bill Coons (Shaker Bridge Theater), Sheriff Deon Gilbeau “August Osage County” directed by Robert Hupp (Arkansas Rep), Roman Polanski in Saviana Stanescu’s “Polanski Polanski” directed by Tamilla Woodard (NYC, Bucharest, nominated for NY Innovative Theater Award for Outstanding Solo Performance), Scapin in “Scapin” (New York Classical Theatre), Hans in “Purge” (La MaMa ETC), Frosch “Die Fledermaus” (Seattle and Dallas Operas) Lillas Pastia in “Carmen” (Santa Fe Opera). He met his wife, the powerful actress LeeAnne Hutchison in Ripe Time’s production of “Innocents” directed by Rachel Dichstein. He can be seen on Vimeo in Christian LaMorte’s short film “Bless Me” (Best Actor in a Short Film 2015 The Chain Film Festival NYC). He is founding Artistic Director of Nomad Theatrical Company which is in pre-production for the film ‘TSMEE.
