David Lipper
Birthplace – Montreal, Quebec, Canada
David grew up in Montreal, Canada where by the age of 18, he starred in the CTV daily soap opera, Time of Your Life. 75 episodes later, David decided to leave the show to finish his degree in Musical Theater at Emerson College in Boston, where he graduated on-time by overloading courses. In 1991 he moved to Los Angeles and made a deal with his parents: he’d give it a year to make a living as an actor or go back to school and get an MBA. By the end of year one he had booked a lead in an MOW, a commercial and a guest star and he was on his way. Soon after he landed the coveted starring role in Reality Check (on YouTube) by the creators of Friends – Kaufman/Bright/Crane. Warner Bros television President Leslie Moonvees had by then discovered David, and put him in another pilot and then finally placing him in their hit show – Full House, where David became DJ’s boyfriend: Viper. From there, 26 episodes as the star of Misguided Angels for FOX Family and David would go on to star in over 60 films and 200 episodes of television. Transitioning from playing high school to leading man, to playing a dad proved to have ups and downs from the consistency of earlier years, and David found himself teaching acting for Ivana Chubbuck at the studio in Los Angeles and abroad. This led to David being hired to help coach actors on set for other directors and gave David a view into the behind the scenes world of film making. It was this that started his transitioning into becoming a director and producer, where David has now been busier than ever, having directed his first 3 films in the first 3 years of the pandemic, and never stopping since. Writing was almost an accident. David was on-location as an actor waiting on a film that lost its funding, and he decided to pass the time writing A Christmas Letter (on UPTV Christmas 2023). That film had been optioned several times until it finally got made. David has gone on to write 2 more produced features – The Unwilling and Hunt Club (released April 2023). By October of 2021, David partnered up with Robert A. Daly Jr (son of the famed Warner Brothers Chairman/CEO – Robert A Daly) and they formed Latigo Films. Latigo made 6 films in their first year and a half and continue with an aggressive production slate where they develop, cast, crew up, film, post, deliver and handle sales and distribution.
