Debuting as a professional actor at age nine, Cantu had his debut big-screen credit at age sixteen in writer-director Tenney Fairchild’s high school comedy, Vikes (2017), co-starring Aidan Alexander, Sydney Sweeney, Noah Munck, and Miguel A. Nunez Jr..

For Cantu’s next movie role, he was cast by Steven Spielberg in a supporting role in The Fabelmans (2022), with Michelle Williams, Gabriel LaBelle, Paul Dano, Judd Hirsch, and Seth Rogen, scoring seven Oscar nominations but losing money for Universal/Amblin with a poor $45.6 million global gross. Nicolas Cantu was born and raised in Austin, Texas, by his parents, who are both Latino. Cantu has two brothers, Sebastian and Matias. Cantu became interested in acting at age seven, performing in school play productions, and acting as a child in industrial films. Cantu’s family moved to Los Angeles, where Cantu began his professional acting career at age nine in 2012.
