Mikey Madison is an American actress. She is best known for her starring role as Max Fox on the FX comedy-drama series Better Things (2016-2022), Manson Family follower Susan ‘Sadie’ Atkins in Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), and Amber Freeman in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin’s and Tyler Gillett’s Scream (2022).Madison was raised in Los Angeles alongside her twin brother and their three other siblings, by their parents who are both psychologists, Her father specializes in schizophrenia, while her mother’s mostly focused on working with children. Mikey grew up being interested in acting, as she watched at least one movie a day with her father. She became a huge fan of the film directors Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese, and watched nearly every movie directed by Woody Allen. Mikey became a horseback rider at the age of eight, and soon began entering various tournaments. She was about to complete her elementary school education when her sister married a film writer, and after hearing him talk about movies, Mikey decided to leave her dreams of becoming a professional horseback rider behind her, and to focus on acting. She matriculated from a local high school in 2017, and chose not to pursue a college degree.Madison began her acting career appearing in numerous short films, including Retirement (2013), Pani’s Box (2013), and Bound for Greatness (2014). In 2014, Madison starred in her first feature film, Liza, Liza, Skies are Grey, at age 15. The film was not released until 2017. In 2016, she began a starring role as Max Fox in the FX comedy-drama series Better Things, which renewed for a fifth and final season set to air in 2022.From 2017 to 2018, she guest starred in the Bravo dark comedy series Imposters. After having taken a three-year break from acting, Mikey was cast to play Kathleen, in the 2018 drama ‘Nostalgia’, and the same year saw her star as Alexandra Floyd, in the critically acclaimed crime drama ‘Monster’. It was written by four people, directed by Anthony Mandler, and starred ASAP Rocky, John David Washington and Kevin Harrison Jr. It follows the life of a 17 years old film student, who has been charged with murder, and the film was nominated for a Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for Dramatic. Also in 2018, Mikey played Kat Walker in the comedy ‘Rhino’, and her most recent movie role has been her voicing of Candi the Barista, in the 2019 animated family comedy ‘The Addams Family’.She earned further recognition for her role as ‘Sadie’ in Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). She also appeared as Candi the Barista in the animated black comedy film The Addams Family, which was released in October 2019.In September 2020, Madison was cast as Amber Freeman in the fifth Scream film, which was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The film was released on January 14, 2022. Another lead role in this 2022 is in the crime drama ‘All Souls’.Madison’s not a fan of social media networks, and isn’t active on Instagram, as she doesn’t want to share the details of her everyday life with her fans. She prefers to reveal things about her in interviews, such as in the one she gave to ‘Interview Magazine’.She loves to go shopping, and usually buys everything she needs at thrift stores, however, she occasionally goes to flea markets, and buys numerous things which she doesn’t need at all.Two of her favorite actresses are Holly Hunter and Laura Dern, while her two favorite female directors are Pamela Adlon and Sofia Coppola. A couple of Mikey’s favorite movies are the franchise ‘The Godfather’, ‘Bumblebee’ and ‘The King of Staten Island’.
