One of the most venerated Japanese voice actors, Masako Nozawa has worked in anime and live-action features and television since 1963, and is known for voicing younger male roles, earning her fan nickname, “The Eternal Boy.” On the IMDB website, Nozawa’s incredible career cites 232 film and TV acting credits. She’s most identified as the long-running voice of the family members of the Dragon Ball hero, Son Goku. Recently, Nozawa has voiced more roles for older female characters.

Prior to her work with the Dragon Ball franchise, Nozawa specialized in the character of Kitarō in the long-running anime series, GeGeGe nō Kitarō, first created in 1960. Her first feature animated voice performances were in Flying Phantom Ship (1969), 30,000 Miles Under the Sea (1970), and Galaxy Express 999 (1979), prior to the beginning of her multi-decade attachment to the character of Son Goku in Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies (1986), continuing to 2022 with a co-starring role in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, directed by Tetsuro Kodama, with Toshio Furukawa and Yuko Minaguchi. In 2019, Nozawa performed with the voice cast of Makoto Shinkai’s acclaimed Weathering with You. Nozawa formed her own voice actor talent agency, Office Nozawa in 2006, and closed the business in 2012.
