Lana Condor (birthname: Trần Đồng Lan; adopted name: Lana Therese Condor) has enjoyed a remarkable run of starring roles in feature films and streaming movies or supporting roles in major releases since her screen debut as Jublilee in the Bryan Singer-directed X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, and Lucas Till, and which earned a $544 million global gross.

Director-writer Peter Berg cast Condor in the intense Boston Marathon bombing thriller, Patriots Day (2016), starring Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, and Michelle Monaghan, and released by Lionsgate. Condor’s next role in an epic genre blockbuster was a supporting turn in the James Cameron-producer and Robert Rodriguez-directed Alita: Battle Angel (2019), with Rose Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, and Jackie Earle Haley, grossing a knockout $405 million globally.

With debuting director-producer Joseph Cross, Lana Condor performed in the indie rom-com, Summer Night (2019), with Ellar Coltrane, Ian Nelson, and Lio Tipton, and which was released by Samuel Goldwyn Films. Condor earned the starring role in her first animation vocal assignment, as the title character in Universal Pictures’ Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023), directed by Kirk DeMicco and with Annie Murphy, Toni Collette, Colman Domingo, and Jane Fonda, which premiered at the Annecy animation film festival.

Condor’s next starring role was in Tom Lin’s rom-com, Worth the Wait (date to be announced), with Andrew Koji, Ross Butler, Sung Kang, and Elodie Yung. Condor played a major role in the Dave Green-directed, James Gunn-written, Looney Tunes-inspired live-action/animated hybrid from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Coyote v. Acme (2023), with John Cena, Will Forte, and P.J. Byrne, and then Condor co-starred in director Steve Barnett’s North Korea-set thriller, Valiant One (date to be announced), with Chase Stokes, Desmin Borges, and Daniel Chae Jun.

Personal Details

Lana Condor was born in Cần Thơ, Vietnam in an orphanage with her Vietnamese birthname Trần Đồng Lan. She and her brother were adopted in October 1997 by Chicago-based American parents Mary and Robert Condor (journalist) and was given the full name Lana Therese Condor, as her brother (who is three months older than Condor) was named Arthur. Condor’s American family lived in both New York City and Whidbey Island, Washington, near Seattle. Condor had an early interest in dancing, which she studied at the Whidbey Island Dance Theater, the Joffrey Ballet in Los Angeles, the Rock School for Dance Education, and the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in New York.

Condor’s training also included the Los Angeles Ballet. Condor’s acting education included improv training at the Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, New York Film Academy, Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors, and included honors as a theater scholar in 2014 at the California State Summer School for the Arts, and study sessions at New York’s Professional Performing Arts School. Condor’s high school education was at Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles, where she graduated in 2015. Although Condor received admittance to Loyola Marymount University in 2016, she opted not to attend to pursue her professional acting career. After being in a relationship with actor-singer Anthony De La Torre since 2015, Condor announced her engagement to De La Torre in January 2022. Condor’s height is 5’ 2¼”.

Some Facts About Lana Condor

Netflix Queen: Lana Condor has become something of a Netflix queen, starring in four Netflix-produced movies including the franchise, To All the Boys (2018, 2020, 2021) and the sci-fi comedy, Moonshot (2022).

Giving Back: Condor worked with the Asia Foundation to create a scholarship fund to provide girls in her Vietnamese hometown of Cần Thơ with the means to attend school.
