Kishori Shahane Vij was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and has worked in more than 130 Marathi films, 50 Hindi films, and in Webseries, Ad Films, and the television industry. She is an Indian classical and folk dancer and actress. She is married to Hindi film producer Deepak Balraj Vij. Their son’s name is Bobby Vij. She is a producer who made a film on the life of Sai Baba of Shirdi in 2010 “Maalik Ek” She is known for appearing in shows like Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Ishq Mein Marjawan. In 2019 she participated in the reality show “Bigg Boss Marathi-2” and was the finalist. From October 2020 to January 2024, she played the roles of Bhavani Chavan in Ghum Hai Kissike Pyar Mein and Babita Singh Ahuja in Kaise Muze Tum Mil Gaye.

Early life and career While in Mithibai College this teenager was crowned Miss Mithibai in the college known as the cultural center of Mumbai. She made her debut in Marathi films and shot to fame with Meherchi Saadi and Vajwa Re Vajwa. Her stage performances in plays like Moruchi Mavshi (Marathi) and Aadhe Adhure (Hindi) directed by Amal Alana earned her recognition as an actress. She acted in Marathi blockbuster films like Ek Daav Dhobi Pachad and Navra Mazha Navsacha. Her roles in Hindi films such as Pyaar Mein Twist and Red: The Dark Side directed by Vikram Bhatt further enhanced her ability to play diverse roles.[5]

Hindi filmmaker Deepak Balraj Vij saw her talent. He directed Hafta Bandh, Bomb Blast, and two more films with her. During the making of Hafta Bandh in 1991, they became close and later married. Kishori then switched to Hindi TV serials and continued to work in Hindi and Marathi films. She became popular with her performances in serials like Ghar Ek Mandir, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, and Sindoor.

Kishori is a classical and folk dancer. She has performed on stage in India and abroad. She also completed his music video Sawan for Venus. Then she participated in the Mrs Gladrags beauty pageant show and was the runner-up in 2003.

As a filmmaker, her Marathi film Mohtyachi Renuka won the Maharashtra State Award 2007 for Best Editing. The film was produced and directed by Kishori. Her next venture Malik Ek (Hindi) was based on the life of Sai Baba and featured Jackie Shroff in the lead role. She then launched her next Marathi film, Aika Dajiba. In 2016, she played a transgender character in the soap opera Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsas Ki, which aired on Colors TV.

In 2020, she is seen playing the role of Bhavani, the matriarch of the Chavan family, in the drama series, Ghum Hai Kisike Pyar Mein. This was considered by many reviews to be the most iconic villain of all time, and she won a number of awards including the Indian Television Academy Awards, Indian Telly Awards, and Iconic Gold Awards for Best Actress in a Negative Role. Her performance in Ek Peksha Ek: Apsara Ali was appreciated by the audience. She also learned Gujarati to act in a Gujarati film.
