Joshua Weigel is an American independent filmmaker who began making films in the mid-2000s, with four consecutive short films as director-writer-producer: Snare (2007), Stained (2008), Liv (2009), and The Butterfly Circus (2009). Weigel was cast in a co-lead role in co-writer/director Brian Bagh’s Christian-themed drama, To Save a Life (2009), released by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
Weigel was director/co-writer/co-producer/actor of the $8.5 million Christian-themed drama and his feature debut, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot (2024), co-starring Elizabeth Mitchell and Demetrius Grosse, released in wide pattern by Angel Studios.

Joshua Weigel was born and raised in Colorado by his parents. Weigel studied film at the University of Wyoming but left the university to move to Los Angeles to pursue a filmmaking career. Weigel is married to writer-producer Rebekah Weigel; the couple has three children and lives in Los Angeles.
