A master of deadpan vocal delivery, H. Jon Benjamin (birthname: Harry Jon Benjamin) has been in constant demand as a voice actor for animation, particularly on television, since 1994. He is best known as the voice of Sterling Archer on the long-running animated show, Archer, and as Bob Belcher on Fox’s hit show, Bob’s Burgers.

Along with other series, such as Comedy Central’s Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist (1995-1999; 2002) UPN’s Home Movies (1999-2004), Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2001-2009), O’Grady (2004-2006), Fox’s hit show Family Guy (2006-2007), and Fox’s current hit, Central Park (2020-Present), Benjamin has appeared as a live-action actor in supporting roles in such features as Brad Anderson’s Next Stop Wonderland (1998) and Happy Accidents (2000) with Marisa Tomei and Vincent D’Onofrio.

Benjamin did voice work in the adult animated feature Hell and Back (2015) with Mila Kunis, Bob Odenkirk, Rob Riggle, and Susan Sarandon. He is the lead voice of The Bob’s Burgers Movie, bringing his Bob Belcher to the big screen. Benjamin has also served as a writer on several of the animated series he has voiced, including Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Lucy: The Daughter of the Devil (2007), and Bob’s Burgers (2015-2018). He is the creator of the live-action comedy series produced by Funny or Die, Jon Benjamin Has a Van (2011).

Personal Details

Born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, H. Jon Benjamin attended Worcester Academy and graduated in 1984. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Connecticut College in 1988. He has one son, named Judah. His height is 5’ 6”.

Some Facts About H. Jon Benjamin

What’s In A Name?: Though given the first name of Harry, H. Jon Benjamin was referred to as Jon by his family, and as a child didn’t know what his first initial stood for. The use of his full name with the first initial appeared on the credits of the first episode of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, as a joke but without his permission.

For The Birds: Benjamin is an amateur ornithologist.
