Da Peng, originally named Dong Chengpeng, is a Chinese film director, actor, screenwriter, and producer. He gained widespread recognition with his directorial debut Jian Bing Man (2015), which was a significant commercial success in China, grossing 1.16 billion RMB ($160 million) at the box office. In 2023, his movie Johnny Keep Walking (2023) grossed 1.29 billion RMB ($179 million) at the box office in China, which set a new box office record for his starring movies. As a director, Da Peng’s films have amassed a total box office of 3.25 billion RMB ($454 million). As an actor, the films he has starred in have achieved a total box office of 4.17 billion RMB ($583 million), with a cumulative box office of 16.85 billion RMB ($2.36 billion) for all the films he has participated in.

Da Peng’s work in cinema has not only been commercially successful but has also earned him acclaim at various film festivals. He has received a total of 19 nominations and awards at six different film festivals, including both directing and acting categories. In 2018, his film A Final Reunion won the Best Short Film at the 55th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards. In 2023, he won the Best Actor Golden Goblet Award at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival for his outstanding performance in Dust to Dust.
