Alyssa Sutherland

Alyssa Sutherland is a successful Australian model-turned-actor, making her first major impact as Queen Aslaug in the History Channel’s series, Vikings (2013-2020). Sutherland broke in as a high-in-demand international model in 1997, working for major brands including Bulgari, Garnier, Chanel, and Calvin Klein, and collaborating with such major fashion photographers as Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts, Steven Meisel, and Ellen von Unwerth.

Sutherland’s film debut was in a supporting role in The Devil Wears Prada (2006), starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, and grossing a strong $326.7 million worldwide, ten times costs, for distributor 20^th Century Fox. Alyssa Sutherland’s first significant role was in writer-director Jay Anania’s New York City ensemble drama, The Day on Fire (2006), with Olympia Dukakis, Carmen Chaplin, and Martin Donovan, followed by a supporting role in Don’t Look Up (2009), director Fruit Chan’s English-language (and Romanian) remake of Hideo Nakata’s 1996’s horror movie, Ghost Actress, with Reshad Strik, Henry Thomas, Kevin Corrigan, Eli Roth, and Lothaire Bluteau.

A smaller role was nabbed by Sutherland in writer-director Nicholas Jarecki’s crime drama, Arbitrage (2012), starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Roth, premiering at the Sundance Film Festival and earning three times costs with a $35.5 million worldwide gross.

Sutherland earned a co-starring role in her next theatrical feature, The Mental State (2022), from co-writer and director James Camali, with Jance Enslin and Carly Pope, and then was cast in another co-starring role in writer-director Lee Cronin’s reboot of the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise (2023), with Lily Sullivan and Morgan Davies, and released by Warner Bros. after premiering at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
