Rising young British actor Daisy Edgar-Jones (birthname: Daisy Jessica Edgar-Jones) is making a strong impression in important feature films and streaming series, including Under the Banner of Heaven (2022) and the Sally Rooney adaptation, Normal People (2020). Her rise has been rapid in just a handful of feature films starting with the British independent coming-of-age drama, Pond Life (2018), with Esme Creed-Miles, Angus Imrie, and Shaun Dooley.

Her next feature was the well-reviewed Sundance premiere, director Mimi Cave’s debut via Searchlight Pictures, Fresh (2022), with Sebastian Stan. Edgar-Jones’ third feature, and her second as a star, is her most prominent: director Olivia Newman’s version of the blockbuster best-selling novel by Delia Owens, Where The Crawdads Sing (2022), with Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson, Michael Hyatt, and David Strathairn.

Daisy Edgar-Jones has played a key role in recent limited streaming series that have achieved potent critical and cultural importance, including Sally Wainwright’s BBC series, Gentleman Jack (2019-2022); her career breakout role in the Sally Rooney adaptation, Normal People (2020), with Paul Mescal; the two-season Epix series updating H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds (2019-2021), with Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern; and Dustin Lance Black’s acclaimed FX limited series, Under the Banner of Heaven (2022), with Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Gil Birmingham, and Wyatt Russell.

Edgar-Jones co-starred with Glen Powell in the long-awaited sequel, Twisters (2024), with Anthony Ramos and Brandon Perea under Lee Isaac Chung’s direction, produced by Amblin Entertainment and The Kennedy/Marshall Company and released by Universal Pictures (North America) and Warner Bros. (ex-North America).

Edgar-Jones joined the cast of screenwriter Bryce Kass’s big-screen adaptation of Shannon Pufahi’s novel, On Swift Horses (date to be announced), with Jacob Elordi, Will Poulter, and Diego Calva under Daniel Minahan’s direction and produced in part by Killer Films. Daisy Edgar-Jones co-starred with Andrew Garfield (as Carl Sagan) in Voyagers (date to be announced), directed by Sebastian Lelio, written by Zach Dean, and produced by Lynda Obst Productions.

Personal Details

London-born Daisy Edgar-Jones was raised by parents Philip and Wendy Edgar-Jones in the north London district of Muswell Hill. Her first theatrical experience was in the U.S. equivalent of third grade. Edgar-Jones attended The Mount School for Girls and then Woodhouse College, followed by studies at The Open University. She earned admittance to the coveted National Youth Theatre, where she performed in the play, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Edgar-Jones is single and has no children. Edgar-Jones’ height is 5’ 6½”.
