Callum Turner

Callum Turner (birthname: Callum Robilliard Turner) is a rising star in British and American cinema, displaying a wide range of characterizations in period and contemporary dramas and comedies. After a successful stint as a model for major labels like Burberry, Turner acted in several short films before making his debut as a fictionalized younger version of filmmaker John Boorman in Boorman’s drama, Queen and Country (2014), the sequel to Boorman’s Hope and Glory (1987), with Vanessa Kirby, David Thewlis, and Richard E. Grant, and which premiered in Cannes’ Directors Fortnight section.

Turner co-starred with Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, and Patrick Stewart in writer-director Jeremy Saulnier’s intense drama, Green Room (2015), earning critical plaudits during its Cannes Directors Fortnight premiere but poor box office for distributor A24. Callum Turner played older brother Theseus to Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander in the David Yates-directed Harry Potter spinoff for Warner Bros., Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018), written by J.K. Rowling and co-starring Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, and Zoë Kravitz, and which earned a solid $655 million global gross on a $200 million budget.

Turner was part of the male lineup opposite Anya Taylor-Joy in the Jane Austin adaptation, Emma (2020), with Johnny Flynn, Josh O’Connor, Bill Nighy, and Mia Goth, and earning two Oscar nominations after grossing a good $26.5 million worldwide gross. Callum Turner revived his Theseus in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), again directed by Yates and with new cast member Mads Mikkelsen, with a $407 million return. Turner then co-starred with Joel Edgerton in the period sports drama adaptation of Daniel James Brown’s book, The Boys in the Boat (2023), directed and co-produced by George Clooney, and released by Amazon MGM Studios. Turner’s next starring role was in Hedda (date to be announced), a new version of a classic, Henrik Ibsen’s drama Hedda Gabler, from writer-director Nia DaCosta, with Eve Hewson and Tessa Thompson.
