Diane Paragas is a narrative, documentary and commercial director and writer. She is best known for writing, directing and producing Yellow Rose which follows the journey of an undocumented Filipino teenager who longs to be a country singer while facing deportation. The film won 14 Grand Jury and Audiences awards from film festivals including the 2019 LAAPFF, Bentonville, CAAMFEST, HIFF and Urbanworld. Yellow Rose will be released by Sony Pictures on October 9, 2020. She also co-directed, shot and edited Brooklyn Boheme (featuring Spike Lee, Chris Rock) which premiered on Showtime and won the Black Reel Award for outstanding Tv documentary. Her documentary The Three Lives of David Wong participated In the Sundance Creative Producing Lab and won grants from Bertha and CAAM. Paragas is also the founder and owner of Brooklyn based Civilian Studios.
