Robert Bahar is an Emmy, Berlinale and Goya-winning documentary filmmaker. He relocated from Brooklyn to Spain to direct and produce The Silence of Others (2018), in collaboration with Almudena Carracedo. Executive Produced by Pedro Almodóvar and seven years in the making, “The Silence of Others” has won over 40 international prizes, including the 2019 Goya for Best Documentary Feature (Spain’s Academy Award equivalent), the Platino Award (IberoAmerican Academy Award equivalent), the Berlinale Panorama Audience Award, Berlinale Peace Film Prize, and the Grand Jury Prize at Sheffield Doc/Fest. It was shortlisted for Best Documentary Feature for the 91st Academy Awards and was nominated for a European Film Award. Robert won an Emmy as producer/writer of the documentary Made in L.A. (2007), and he spearheaded the three-year impact campaign that brought the film to audiences around the world. He produced and directed the documentary “Laid to Waste” and has line produced and production managed several independent films. Robert co-founded Doculink and is a Creative Capital Fellow, a Sundance Documentary Fellow, and a member of Spain’s Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences and the European Film Academy. He holds an MFA from The Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California.
