Tamara Saviano is an author, editor, filmmaker, and Grammy and Americana Award winning producer. Saviano’s memoir, “The Most Beautiful Girl: A True Story of a Dad, a Daughter and the Healing Power of Music” was named one of the best books of 2014 by the Chicago Book Review. The Foreword was written by Kris Kristofferson. Saviano’s biography on legendary songwriter Guy Clark, “Without Getting Killed or Caught: The Life and Music of Guy Clark,” won the Belmont Award for the best writing on country music in 2016. Her documentary about Clark, also titled “Without Getting Killed or Caught,” was scheduled to World Premiere at the South By Southwest Film Festival in 2020 and is now on hold until 2021. Saviano’s music productions include “Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster,” honored with a 2004 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album, “The Pilgrim: A Celebration of Kris Kristofferson,” “Looking Into You: A Tribute to Jackson Browne,” “Red Hot: A Memphis Celebration of Sun Records,” and the Grammy-nominated “This One’s For Him: A Tribute to Guy Clark,” which won Album of the Year at the Americana Honors & Awards in 2012. She also produced Kristofferson’s Grammy-nominated “Cedar Creek Sessions” in 2015. In 2017, Saviano was honored with the Darrell K. Royal Texas Music Legend Award by the Texas Heritage Songwriter Association. In 2020, the Austin Music Awards honored Saviano with the Margaret Moser Award, dedicated to influential women in the music business. Saviano lives in Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee with her husband Paul Whitfield.
