Alisha Weir is a rising Irish-born child-to-teen actor best known for her performance in the title role of Matilda the Musical (2022) she began her feature film career in a supporting role in writer-director Michael Tully’s horror-mystery, Don’t Leave Home (2018), with Anna Margaret Hollyman, Lalor Roddy, Helena Bereen, David McSavage, and Karrie Cox.

Weir was cast in her first voice role in an animated feature movie in the animated Ireland-Luxembourg co-production, Two by Two: Overboard! (2020), co-directed by Toby Genkel and Sean McCormack, and which grossed $10.9 million globally. Weir landed her first feature starring role as Matilda in Matilda the Musical (2022), the US/UK-backed (Sony-TriStar and Working Title Films) screen version of the Tim Minchin-Dennis Kelly stage musical version of Roald Dahl’s 1988 novel, directed by Matthew Warchus and co-starring Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, and Emma Thompson, and which premiered at the London film festival before a global box-office take of $35 million.

Weir’s third live-action feature role was playing Jessie Buckley’s daughter in the comic murder mystery, Wicked Little Letters (2023), co-starring Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Anjana Vasan, Malachi Kirby, and Timothy Spall, and after premiering at the Toronto film festival took in a global gross of $10 million via StudioCanal’s release.

Alisha Weir played the balletic and extremely violent title role in the U.S. horror movie, Abigail (2024), with Dan Stevens, Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton, and Giancarlo Esposito under the co-direction of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and released by Universal Pictures following a premiere at New Orleans’ horror event, the Overlook Film Festival.
