Mauro Borrelli
Mauro Borrelli is a director with a background in visual art. A native of Italy, he studied classical painting at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. His early career gave him the opportunity to work with the such greats as Francis Ford Coppola, Terry Gilliam, Gore Verbinski and Tim Burton to name a few in the visual elements of the films. His debut film that he wrote and directed “La Donna Del Moro, was awarded “Best Short Film” at the Venice Film festival. His acclaimed foll”w up “White Shoe” inspired by the life of Salvatore Ferragamo, won Museum Short Award as the Best Short Film and has been hosted throughout the major European museums and a candidate for an academy nomination. In his role as a visual art director, he directed the world’s first hyper realistic CGI animated feature film “Final Fantasy” After much success in the short form feature, Mauro wrote and directed the alien abduction sci-fi feature film “The Recall” starring Wesley Snipes and RJ Mitte. The Recall was filmed in the large scale format called Barco Escape and additionally in VR format to capture the growing content market audience. This allowed him the keen integration of new technology in creating amazing visual storytelling in a creative format. IN 2020 Mauro wrote and directed the action-fantasy thriller “Warhunt” starring Mickey Rourke, Robert Knepper, Jackson Rathbone, to be be released in the beginning of 2021. In 2022, Lionsgate released his latest thrillers “Mindcage” starring John Malkovich , Martin Lawrence Melissa Roxburgh.
