Lio Tipton (birthname: Analeigh Christian Tipton) is an actor with a background in competitive ice skating and modeling. After performing in hit episodic series such as The Big Bang Theory (2008) and Hung (eight episodes in 2011), Tipton broke into feature films with Michel Gondry’s superhero feature, The Green Hornet (2011), with Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, and Cameron Diaz; the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), with Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, and Emma Stone; and Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress (2011), with Greta Gerwig. At this point, and until 2019, Tipton was identified and credited as Analeigh Tipton. 

Lio Tipton’s film work accelerated in 2014 with co-starring or supporting roles in mostly indie films such as 4 Minute Mile (2014), with Richard Jenkins and Kim Basinger; Luc Besson’s Lucy, with Scarlett Johansson; Max Nichols’ Two Night Stand (2014), with Miles Teller; Anna Boden’s and Ryan Fleck’s drama, Mississippi Grind (2015), with Ryan Reynolds, Ben Mendelsohn, and Sienna Miller; James Franco’s John Steinbeck adaptation In Dubious Battle (2016), with Franco, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Selena Gomez, Ed Harris, Sam Shepard, and Bryan Cranston; Alex Ross Perry’s relationship drama, Golden Exits (2017), with Lily Rabe, Jason Schwartzman, Chloe Sevigny, and Mary-Louise Parker, and which premiered at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals; and Gavin Wiesen’s All Nighter (2017), with J.K. Simmons and Emile Hirsch. Tipton co-starred above the title in Dave Schwep’s psychological thriller, Broken Star (2018), with Tyler Labine. 

Their final film credited as Analeigh Tipton was Summer Night (2019), an ensemble rom-com with Ellar Coltrane, Hayden Szeto, and Ian Nelson. Their first film credit as Lio Tipton is with B.J. Novak’s black comedy, Vengeance (2022), with Novak and Dove Cameron. In 2022, Tipton was a member of the cast of Nadine Crocker’s autobiographical drama, Continue, with Crocker and Dale Dickey, as well as James Franco’s drama, The Long Home (release date to be announced), with Giancarlo Esposito, Josh Hartnett, Tim Blake Nelson, and Beth Grant; writer-director Weston Razooli’s feature debut, Riddle of Fire (date to be announced); and another writer-director debut, Matthew Kaundart’s My Twin is Dead (date to be announced), with Will Brittain and Sidney Flanigan.

Personal Details

Minneapolis-born Lio Tipton was raised by her mother Robin Debes and Stephen Tipton. They started ice skating at age two-and-a-half, and moved with their family to Sacramento at age eight, attending school in nearby Placerville. Tipton and skating partner Phillip Cooke competed and won at the Juvenile level, winning regional championships and skating in two U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships. Tipton retired from competitive skating at 16.

They graduated from St. Francis High School in Sacramento. They attended and graduated with a film degree from Marymount College in the Los Angeles suburb of Palos Verdes. They are single, identifying as of 2021 as non-binary pansexual.  Her height is 5’ 9½”.
